Young disabled and applied for or lost Wajong benefits? Read about conditions, amount and how to object to the UWV.

What is the Wajong?

The Wajong is a benefit for people who acquired an illness or disability at a young age, preventing them from working. Since 2015, you can only qualify if you have permanently no work capacity.

Conditions for Wajong 2015

  • You were ill or disabled before age 18 or during your studies
  • You have permanently no work capacity
  • You live in the Netherlands

Amount

The Wajong 2015 benefit is 75% of the minimum wage, approximately €1,415 gross per month in 2025.

Denial and objection

The most common reason for denial is the UWV determining you have work capacity. You have six weeks to object. Strong grounds include underestimated limitations, insufficient consideration of psychological conditions, and new medical evidence.
